"Like Snow" is one of my favorite Wendell Berry poems:
Like Snow
Suppose we did our work
like the snow, quietly, quietly,
leaving nothing out.
|
Chickens & Geese - not sure if they like the snow. |
The chickens & the geese are only quiet when they sleep. Some of the chickens snore, so they aren't quiet even when they sleep. They do their work pretty well though.
|
Nathanael & Me - we like the snow. |
Nathanael & I are never quiet, and we often leave things out. We enjoy ourselves though. No comment about the other Greenes. We will protect the innocent as well as the guilty.
|
The walk out to the pasture. |
"Whose woods these are, I think I know." Sorry, wrong poem. The woods were lovely, dark, and deep this morning, and the snow had done its beautiful, quiet work.
|
The Pigs' Nest |
The pigs are quiet, except when they touch the electric wire. The effects are different, but they work like the snow. They leave nothing out.

First Snow in the New Pasture |
I just like this picture. A snowy day is a beautiful day, especially when there is a fire going back in the woodstove.
